While not a surprise, Google is now offering domain registration services. As noted by Matt McGee from Marketing Land, this will be a modest $12-per-year service which includes registration, email, customized subdomains (we like this) and management tools.

It’s still in early Beta, but users can enter a waiting list to get a .com, .net, .org, .biz, .guru (please don’t register for a .guru) and even a .photography domain as noted on their Domain About page:

It’s certainly easy to request an invitation code per their registrar page:

After that, you’re just in the hurry-up-and-wait mode:

We’re not sure how long you’ll be in the hopper for this yet. However, it doesn’t hurt to sign up. It can be a new domain, or if you’re unhappy with your current registrar they allow you to transfer your existing domain to Google.
